We have been joining in with firework night celebrations and have created our own pictures using a variety of materials including paints, salt, brushes, cotton wool, and dabbers. This multi-sensory approach allowed children to experiment with different textures and techniques whilst expressing their understanding of fireworks through creative art.
We listened to the sounds the fireworks make and watched real fireworks on the iPad, connecting visual and auditory experiences to deepen children’s understanding of this seasonal celebration. The children were able to use words like “whoosh,” “weee,” and “bang” to copy the sounds they heard, developing their communication skills and phonetic awareness through playful sound-making whilst building vocabulary to describe the exciting world around them.
