Little Hayes Oak Room Creates Spinning Art

Feb 13, 2026

The children have been having a fun time using pipettes and syringes to shoot paint onto the spinning board, creating amazing colourful effects in the process. As well as being creative, this activity helped them develop a range of skills including fine motor control through squeezing the syringes and pipettes, and gross motor skills through the arm movements needed to aim and shoot.

The children have been exploring colour mixing and naming colours as they watch the paint combine on the spinning surface, discovering new shades whilst building colour vocabulary. This sensory exploration engages sight, touch, and movement whilst developing hand-eye coordination as children aim for the moving board.

The activity also encouraged turn-taking as children waited for their chance and supported perseverance – the syringes were very tricky to squeeze, so children had to keep on trying to achieve the satisfying paint explosion!

We’ll be having lots more spinning fun next term!
