We Are Learning… To use Big Movements with Co-ordination
According to the Chief Medical Officer, children under 5 need 180 minutes of physical activity each day!
This term we are getting active. We will be building and attempting our own obstacle courses, and finding creative ways to move over, under, around and through the obstacles, as well as using our shoulder girdle to promote upper body muscle formation by climbing, dangling, and swinging.
We will be copying the different animal movements as described in From Head to Toe by Eric Carl. Can you stomp like and elephant, clap like a seal or wriggle like a crocodile?
We Are Learning… To use Descriptive and Positional Language to describe a Journey and Communicate our Ideas
Our core story is We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We will be acting out and re-telling the story in the garden and starting to map our journey. We will be using positional language to talk about our route and the ways we move over different obstacles. Where will the bear be hiding? Under the tunnel? Over the blocks? Behind the tree? Watch Michael Rosen performing We’re Going on a Bear Hunt on YouTube The children will be using the story map (overleaf) to retell the story.
MC Grammar has also created a rap version, so please take a look at this too, we expect the children to start rapping to us in a few weeks!! Come on grown ups, you can learn it too!!! We’re Going On A Bear Hunt 🐻 | MC Grammar 🎤 | Educational Rap Songs for Kids 🎵 – YouTube
