Vassall Community Hub in Fishponds is offering a wonderful range of activities and support services that may be of interest to families in our community.
The hub provides free confidential housing advice through Housing Matters drop-in sessions, where residents can get support with housing issues and homelessness concerns. Face-to-face appointments are available, with translation services offered for those who need them.
For anyone interested in health and wellbeing, the hub hosts special health days featuring free health checks, advice from local healthcare organisations, and opportunities to explore support services. There are also taster sessions for activities like Women’s Boxfit and Qigong, giving people a chance to try something new in a welcoming environment.
Creative opportunities include sewing workshops where participants can learn machine sewing basics and create projects to take home. These beginner-friendly sessions are hosted by Jane Allen and provide all necessary materials, though attendees are welcome to bring their own machines if they have them.
The hub also runs Qigong classes on Tuesday mornings, offering a gentle way to move, breathe and restore, led by Lou from QiRoots. Additionally, there are youth sessions during school holidays, including special events like the Christmas Eve Level Up Sessions featuring arts, crafts, party games and food.
All events take place at Vassall Community Hub on Gill Avenue in Fishponds. The attached flyers provide full details of dates, times and booking information for each activity. Many of these opportunities are free or low-cost, making them accessible to families across our community.
