I am motivated to serve as a governor of Speedwell and Little Hayes Federated Nursery Schools because of my deep commitment to Early Years and the Children and Families of Bristol. Being a governor has given me the chance to work alongside fellow governors, staff members, and parents who are all committed to achieving the best outcomes for our children. I know that every child deserves an excellent education that values their uniqueness and offers them opportunities to discover the joy of learning from an early age.
I have been involved in education for many years and have had the joy as a parent in sharing in my own children’s learning journeys. I am now a mature student studying for a degree in Illustration and truly believe that education and lifelong learning are accessible to us all, with help and guidance.
I have been a governor for three years now and have learnt so much about the schools, meeting regularly with the school leaders and staff. Working together and helping to plan for our children, we are able to support staff as we learn about the curriculum, finances and our building and outside spaces. As governors, we can access a range of training opportunities in person and online, which help develop our personal skills and understanding.
I have gained so much from working alongside other governors and staff. We all have different backgrounds, and we are encouraged to learn together, to ask questions and look for solutions. I have been made to feel welcome by other governors and staff whenever I visit our schools, and it gives me such joy to be part of our school’s vision and ongoing development.
