We Are Learning… To use Fine and Gross Motor Movements with Confidence, Purpose and Joy
According to the Chief Medical Officer, children under 5 need 180 minutes of physical activity each day!
This term we are getting active. We will be reading stories linked to animals and their movements and having a go at moving like the animals, as well as learning new vocabulary to describe our actions.
We will be waddling like penguins and slithering like snakes. Check out some of the stories we will be reading Monkey and Me, Walking through the Jungle and Head to Toe. We will be learning more yoga moves and dancing to different types of music. Hopefully Karol will be sharing some more Colombian dancing.

We Are Learning… To use Our Fine and Large Motor Skills
Along with other fine motor activities, we will be making small flags to place carefully in our sandcastles and making large flags to wave in the garden and follow instructions such as high and low.
We will be experimenting with different ways of attaching the material to the sticks, using glue, staples. tape or string.

We Are Learning… To use Descriptive and Positional Language to Describe a Journey
We will be marching up and down the big hill acting out the rhyme The Grand Old Duke of York. We will be using positional language to describe going UP and DOWN the hill and even working out where HALF WAY UP is.
We will also be reading Rosie’s Walk and using our wonderful garden to act out the story. Shall we go Under the bridge? Over the hill? Behind the pond? You can share the story with your child Rosie’s Walk and watch Michael Rosen performing We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

End of Year Family Picnic
Come and join the fun for a stay and play family picnic on Wednesday 16th July 2025 from 11am to 2pm.
Please bring along your own picnic and blanket. There will be no nursery sessions that day. There will be a short graduation event for the children moving on to reception.
Growing and Changing
Last term, we were learning all about growing and changing. Our planting has been a real success, and we have transferred our seedlings into the growing beds in the garden, where they are thriving. We were amazed to discover that beans can grow on a bed of tissue paper, as well as in soil. Some things grew really quickly, and we were able to try some cress and microgreens that we had grown from tiny seeds.

We watched our tiny caterpillars grow bigger and hairier and then form a chrysalis (or cocoon), just like in The Very Hungry Caterpillar story. We have been excited to see them emerge this week as butterflies. Once they have all emerged, we will release them in our garden.
