This term we have been learning about shapes, growing and forces.
We have been finding lots of different-shaped objects in the environment, especially in the garden, and thinking about the properties of shapes, e.g., straight or curved edges, corners, and the number of sides. We have been creating shapes and patterns with 2D shape tiles and pictures using paper shapes.

We have been noticing signs of spring throughout the garden. Lots of buds, seedlings, blossoms, flowers and new leaves. Susan has brought some exciting creatures in for us to look at carefully, including newts, snails and spiders. She makes sure to always return them to their homes afterwards. We are continuing to watch our caterpillars develop and change, and we even found some caterpillars in the garden.

We have been learning about the lifecycle of both plants and animals. We have been planting seeds, beans and plants and are trying to remember to keep them watered so that they don’t die!

Thank you to everyone who has sent in a baby photo. This week, we have been sharing the pictures and thinking about what babies can and can’t do, and how the children have grown and changed. It’s not too late to email a photograph of your child to tanya.tooby@bristol-schools.uk
We are continuing to read The Enormous Turnip story and recreating it using our story map and props. We have been thinking about the pulling and pushing forces needed to move things. The children have enjoyed pulling things up using the pulley on the climbing frame.
