Maggie Whittle

My involvement began in 1984, when the first of my four children secured a place at Little Hayes Nursery School. In due course, the others happily followed on. Recently, my grandsons also attended Little Hayes. Before retiring, my career involved working directly with and for children; now I care for grandchildren while their parents work! and have the opportunity to renew my Early Years involvement.

Volunteer Governors are essential to all schools. Becoming a Governor is a rewarding way to collaborate with others, use my knowledge and expertise, and keep my brain active. With free training, assistance and support, we monitor, enquire, challenge (and sometimes) report about all aspects of the running of a School/Federation, and we expect clear responses and evidence from the Headteacher and staff when needed.

As Safeguarding Governor, I expect the children to learn in safe environments, that all staff have undertaken requisite safeguarding training, and can respond with confidence and knowledge to enable children to happily learn and develop. I get to know the staff, families and other Governors. and welcome everyone to get involved, We all have knowledge and skills that any Governing Board would welcome. Why not give it a try? Just ask us, we can tell you more.
